This weekend Glendale had 3 games lined up. Glendale A vs Highlanders A, Glendale B vs Highlanders B, and Glendale C vs Western State.
The a-side game Glendale lined up a larger side to compete with the Highlanders physical size. I didn’t get to play in this game, as we used Sonny as a large hook in the game. The game ran slower than many of the previous games, and I felt the Glendale may have done better to use our speedier players than our larger players, however, in the end, Glendale did come out with a very close win.
The b-side game, I played as the starting hooker against Highlanders B-Side. I felt that I was able to play a solid game, and I scored a try in the second half. While there were many mistakes throughout the game, Glendale kept consistant pressure, and put away the Highlanders very convincingly.
The c-side game, I played as tighthead, and while it has been a while, I held my own. The challenge in this game came to the fact that about 15 minutes into the game, I got severe cramps in the back of my calves. 2 days later, and I’ve still got a knot in my right calf. Through the first half, I spent much of the time switching on and off of the field, as I couldn’t run well enough to be really effective. The second half, I played throughout the game, but found that I would walk to scrums and lineouts, in order to stretch my legs, and try to keep the cramping down to where I could still move. We won this games as well, and while I felt like I was moving like an old Prop, I think I did okay during the game, although I am still somewhat embarrassed about my performance.
